On the evening of March 3, an explosion occurred near the entrance of an apartment building in the Osnovyansky district of Kharkiv. According to preliminary information, a man born in 1980 died as a result of the incident, while his wife, born in 1982, sustained injuries and was hospitalized.

Investigation of the circumstances of the explosion
Explosive experts, forensic specialists, and an investigative operational group were working at the scene. Law enforcement is clarifying all the details of the tragedy and is considering the main version – “accident,” as well as addressing the legal qualification issues according to the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“As a result of the incident, a man born in 1980 died at the scene. His wife, born in 1982, sustained injuries. The injured woman has been hospitalized,” reports the press service.
The scale of the problem of explosive objects in Ukraine
The issue of explosive objects remains acute for Ukraine. According to the State Emergency Service, since February 2022, 336 people have died due to such objects, including 18 children. Another 825 individuals, including 92 children, have been injured. Approximately 139,000 square kilometers, which constitutes 23% of the country’s territory, are considered potentially dangerous due to landmines.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Ukraine needs $29.8 billion for the complete demining of areas affected by the war.
