Important Marks on Driver’s License for Car Owners

Відмітки у посвідченні водія: що мають знати власники авто

A driver’s license contains special marks that inform about specific conditions for operating a vehicle and possible restrictions for the document holder. These marks are significant for drivers and law enforcement during checks.

What Information is Included in a Driver’s License

All driver’s licenses issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs service centers have a table on the back that contains important information about the holder:

  • Column 9. “Category” — lists the categories of vehicles that the holder is permitted to drive (for example, A, B, C1, etc.).
  • Column 10. “Category Valid From” — indicates the date when each category was opened.
  • Column 11. “Category Valid Until” — specifies the validity period of the respective category.
  • Column 12. “Restrictions” — records codes that define special conditions for operating vehicles.

Main Restriction Codes and Features of Marks

  • 78 — allows driving only vehicles with an automatic transmission.
  • 64.70 — if the driver’s license is issued for the first time for 2 years, the driver must adhere to a maximum speed of 70 km/h.
  • 01 — obligation to use vision correction or protection means, namely:
    • 01.01 — glasses;
    • 01.02 — contact lenses;
    • 01.05 — eye patch;
    • 01.06 — glasses or contact lenses.

Such marks can be placed either in the “Restrictions” column or in the “Special Marks” field, depending on the form of the license.

Column 14 indicates the blood type and consent for donation – only at the driver’s request and with a medical certificate. This entry is not mandatory. Special marks help quickly identify restrictions related to a specific driver. This is convenient for law enforcement during document checks.

Drivers who wish to assist law enforcement in quickly identifying their restrictions can exchange their license for a new sample at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center. To do this, it is necessary to provide a valid driver’s license, passport or ID card with residence information, identification code, and optionally — a medical certificate (to include the blood type). During martial law, a medical certificate for exchange is not required.
