How a Ukrainian Woman Demolished an Old House in a Village in Rivne Oblast for New Housing

Maria and her husband fulfilled a long-held dream — they purchased a dilapidated house with a plot of land in the town of Sarny, located in Rivne Oblast. After a lengthy search and careful selection, the couple found the perfect place for a new beginning, although the plot required significant effort to prepare.

Updating the Rural Yard

According to Maria, the area was completely overgrown, and the house and summer kitchen were in a state of disrepair. The couple began work in the fall: they trimmed trees, removed garbage, and tidied up the yard. Ultimately, they decided to demolish the old house with a bulldozer to build a new modern residence.

“No one had lived here for a long time, so everything was overgrown and neglected. The house and summer kitchen were in terrible condition. Therefore, in the fall, we started clearing everything: cutting trees, removing garbage, and organizing the space. Of course, we demolished the house, as a new one will be built in its place,” the woman recounts.

To clear the area and remove the garbage, they had to engage six trucks. They decided to keep the summer kitchen, but all renovation work was temporarily halted due to the onset of winter.

Summer Kitchen: From Trash to Utility Space

In one of the videos, the owner showed the interior condition of the summer kitchen: it was filled with old items, clothes, and heaps of trash. After a thorough cleaning, the space is now used for storing tools and household items.

As of today, the couple has completed the first stage of work and plans to lay the foundation for the new house. Social media users are supporting the couple, wishing them success in their new life. One follower inquired about the cost of the plot, to which Maria promised to record a separate video with explanations.

Similar stories are occurring in other regions of Ukraine: for example, Taras Snizhkovskyi shared how his mother moved from Sloviansk to the village of Drabivka in Cherkasy Oblast and is gradually settling into her own home. Alina from Dnipropetrovsk also bought a village house near Kryvyi Rih and shared her impressions of the advantages and disadvantages of her new residence. Additionally, an emigrant from Italy organized an online tour of her village house, which requires major repairs but was inexpensive.
