In Ukraine, the number of military personnel who have become disabled while performing their duties is increasing every year, especially due to the full-scale war. According to current legislation, this category of citizens is entitled to special pension payments, the amount of which depends on the defined disability group and the cause of its occurrence.

Who is Entitled to Military Disability Pension
The disability pension is granted to military personnel if the disability:
- occurred during service;
- was established within three months after discharge from service;
- was determined after the three-month period, but related to an illness contracted during service or while in captivity.
The amount of pension payments is determined as a percentage of the monetary provision. This percentage depends on the disability group:
- Third group — 40%;
- Second group — 60%;
- First group — 70%.
If the disability occurred due to injuries or illnesses sustained during the war (on the front lines or in frontline settlements), increased percentages apply:
- First group — 100%;
- Second group — 80%;
- Third group — 60%.
“If the group changes due to a deterioration in condition related to occupational injury, general or professional illness, the pension will be recalculated according to the new group while retaining the cause.”
Minimum Size of Military Disability Pension
Legislation guarantees minimum pension amounts for individuals with disabilities as a result of war:
- First group — 5025 hryvnias;
- Second group — 4610 hryvnias;
- Third group — 4396 hryvnias.
For other military personnel with disabilities, the following minimum amounts are established:
- First group — 4605 hryvnias;
- Second group — 4396 hryvnias;
- Third group — 4186 hryvnias.
Payments may increase depending on military rank and can reach 110-130% of the specified minimum amounts.
It is important to remember that if the deadline for a re-examination to confirm disability is missed, pension payments may be suspended. Restoration is possible from the day of suspension if the status is confirmed no later than one month before the next examination. If the disability is determined for a specific period, it must be periodically confirmed.
