The National Bank of Poland (NBP) has released updated data regarding the employment of Ukrainian citizens in the country and their incomes. According to the latest statistics, over 90% of Ukrainians who arrived in Poland before the war began are currently employed. The median net salary of Ukrainians in Poland is now approximately 4,500 zlotys (equivalent to about 52,000 hryvnias or 1,228 US dollars per month). At the same time, this amount is lower than the median income of Polish workers.

Labor Market Dynamics and Refugee Integration
NBP also reported a significant improvement in the employment situation among Ukrainians who were forced to seek refuge in Poland after the onset of Russia’s full-scale aggression. In 2023, approximately 26% of refugees were working under unstable or temporary labor contracts. However, by 2025, this figure decreased to 17%. This positive trend is attributed to the favorable conditions in the Polish labor market and the active integration of Ukrainian migrants.
“Overall, this year 14% of refugees in Poland are unemployed, compared to 25% two years ago. However, unemployment among refugees is still 300% higher than the corresponding rate among Poles, although the number of self-employed refugees is increasing.”
Changes in Work Permit Regulations for Foreigners
As of December 1, new, significantly increased administrative fees related to the issuance of work permits for foreign citizens, including Ukrainians, have come into effect in Poland. These changes may affect the cost of legalizing work for many migrants, which could potentially pose an additional challenge for those planning to officially employ themselves in the country.
