The military pension in Ukraine is designated for various categories of military personnel and their families, depending on circumstances and type of service. Such a pension can be obtained through the Pension Fund of Ukraine or the relevant military authorities, choosing either a personal visit or a convenient online application format. The main grounds for pension payments include having the required service record, obtaining a disability during service, or entitlement to a pension in case of loss of a breadwinner.

Who Can Receive a Military Pension
- Individuals discharged from service due to length of service or other grounds;
- Conscripts and equivalent categories;
- Individuals with disabilities incurred during the performance of official duties;
- Family members of military personnel who were killed or died — in case of loss of a breadwinner.
Payments are made in accordance with the Law of Ukraine dated 09.04.1992 No. 2262-XII “On Pension Provision for Persons Discharged from Military Service and Certain Other Persons.” For conscripts, individuals with disabilities, and families of the deceased, the application is submitted to the territorial office of the Pension Fund of Ukraine or online via the electronic services web portal.
Application Procedure and Required Documents
Military personnel who have suffered as a result of hostilities after February 24, 2022, or while performing tasks under martial law, also have the right to apply directly to the Pension Fund. Other categories of military personnel (career soldiers, contract servicemen) and their family members apply for pensions through the structural unit of the military authority at their last place of service — for example, through the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCK SP), military unit, or the relevant ministry (Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations, etc.). These institutions assist in gathering the necessary documentation and submit it to the Pension Fund.
“Military personnel do not need to run around different offices like civilians do; this is handled by the relevant authorities,” explains pension expert Serhiy Korobkin.
Pension applications can even be submitted while still in service — this applies to disability or age pensions (for combat participants: 55 years for men, 50 for women). To do this, one should submit an application to the Pension Fund either in person or online and wait for a decision, provided the necessary insurance record is available.
After discharge from service, one can reapply for a pension in accordance with military legislation. To submit an application, the following documents must be prepared:
- passport or ID card;
- documents confirming disability or combat participant status;
- certificate of family composition (for pension due to loss of breadwinner);
- certificates from the place of service (if applying through the military authority);
- bank details for payment.
Adhering to these rules allows for the military pension to be processed as quickly and smoothly as possible.
