The Secretary of the Defense Committee of Parliament, Roman Kostenko, reported on the impressive growth of Ukraine’s defense industry (DI), which is expected to reach ₴1.5 trillion by 2025. According to him, in 2022, the DI fulfilled state orders worth approximately ₴70-80 billion, which was the maximum possible amount for that period.

In the following year, the volume of completed orders increased to over ₴200 billion, and in 2024 it amounted to nearly ₴400 billion. This indicates a significant expansion of the production capacities of Ukrainian enterprises.
Development of the Private Sector and New Opportunities
Kostenko noted that the growth in production volume pertains not only to state enterprises. A significant portion of the DI consists of private companies that were established during the war. Ukraine’s defense industry encompasses various sectors, including factories for tank repairs and enterprises engaged in the production of drones and missiles. It is estimated that Ukrainian defense enterprises can produce over 10 million drones per year; however, there is an urgent need to develop domestic production of components, as most drones use foreign-made parts.
Export of Ukrainian Defense Products
Kostenko also informed that criteria are currently being developed for the export of certain Ukrainian defense products or their parts to partner countries. He expressed confidence that a relevant decision will be made soon to activate international cooperation in this area.
