The Target of the Attack was the Petrochemical Plant
The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, stated that several drones were shot down over the industrial zone of Sterlitamak. According to him, debris fell onto the territory of one of the enterprises, leading to a fire. There is currently no information about any casualties.
According to an analysis of photo and video materials conducted by the Telegram channel ASTRA, the target of the attack was the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant. This facility is involved in the production of aviation fuel, synthetic rubbers, phenolic antioxidants, as well as various chemical additives and hardeners. The plant is part of the Roskhim holding and has previously been subjected to similar attacks: the last strike by Ukrainian drones was recorded on the night of January 6.
Strategic Importance of the Enterprise for the Russian Federation
The head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation, Andriy Kovalенко, emphasized that Sterlitamak is one of the key centers of the chemical and petrochemical industry in the Russian Federation. The local petrochemical plant is particularly important as it produces ionol additives for aviation fuel and lubricants for military equipment.
“Other enterprises that provide essential components for aviation and missile technology, including for the production of explosives, powders, and ammunition, are also significant. The chemical industry is the foundation of war,” he added.
The Ukrainian military command has not yet commented on the latest airstrike. The distance from Ukraine to Bashkortostan is about 1500 kilometers.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia, various facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation have systematically been subjected to airstrikes. In 2024 and 2025, the main targets of the attacks have been oil refineries. Strikes are also being carried out on Russian facilities in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Most attacks have been confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which has repeatedly emphasized that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are consistently implementing measures aimed at reducing the combat potential of the Russian occupation forces and forcing the Russian Federation to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.
