Electricity Imports to Ukraine Increased 2.5 Times in October 2025

In October 2025, the volume of electricity imports to Ukraine significantly increased, reaching 360 thousand MWh, which is 2.5 times more compared to the previous month.

Import Structure and Main Partner Countries

The largest supplier of electricity to Ukraine remains Hungary, accounting for 51% of total imports. Poland ranks second with a share of 22%. These countries continue to play a key role in meeting Ukraine’s energy needs in the international market.

Resumption of Trade with Slovakia and Market Dynamics

At the end of October, Ukraine resumed cross-border electricity trade with Slovakia after nearly a two-month break due to repairs on the Velke Kapushany-Mukachevo line. In the last three days of the month, imports from Slovakia amounted to 7.6 thousand MWh, while exports to this country were 1.8 thousand MWh.

Overall, in October, there was an increase in electricity imports across all directions. Compared to October 2024, the import figures to Ukraine doubled.
