Throughout 2025, 64,500 diesel vehicles were registered in Ukraine, which is a 12% decrease compared to the previous year. This trend indicates a declining interest in diesel cars in the Ukrainian market.

Structure of the Diesel Car Market
Of the total number, the share of new diesel passenger cars was 14,200 units, which is 20% less than in 2024. The volume of imported used diesel cars amounted to 50,300 units, also showing a decline — down 9% year-on-year.
In the segment of new passenger cars, diesel models accounted for only 17.4% of sales in 2025, while in 2024 this figure was 25.6%. A similar trend is observed in the market for imported used cars: the share of diesel models decreased from 24.8% to 18.3%.

Most Popular Diesel Cars of 2025
Among new diesel passenger cars, the following models gained the most popularity:
- RENAULT Duster – 3,524 units;
- TOYOTA Land Cruiser Prado – 1,830 units;
- VOLKSWAGEN Touareg – 1,388 units;
- SKODA Kodiaq – 858 units;
- VOLKSWAGEN Tiguan – 823 units.
Among used diesel cars imported from abroad, the top five included:
- RENAULT Megane – 4,186 units;
- NISSAN Qashqai – 3,444 units;
- SKODA Octavia – 3,259 units;
- VOLKSWAGEN Passat – 2,773 units;
- VOLKSWAGEN Golf – 1,790 units.
The decrease in demand for diesel vehicles is observed among both new and used vehicles, which may be related to global trends towards alternative types of engines and the strengthening of environmental standards.
