Situation in the Kostiantynivka Area and Counteroffensive Actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to information from the DeepState project dated March 11, Russian troops have advanced near the village of Stupochky, located east of Kostiantynivka, along the road from Bakhmut. Part of the southern outskirts of Kostiantynivka is already in the so-called “gray zone,” where Ukrainian defenders regularly record the presence of Russian soldiers seeking to establish themselves in new positions.

“In the Kostiantynivka direction, the invaders carried out 21 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Mykolaivka, Sofiivka, and Novopavlivka. Two battles are ongoing,” the report states.

The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted in its recent analysis that counterattacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia direction could significantly impact Russia’s plans for an offensive in the spring and summer.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi previously reported that Ukrainian defense forces aim to seize the initiative and force the enemy to act according to Ukrainian rules. According to him, counteroffensive operations continue in the Oleksandrivka direction, and over the past month, control has been restored over 285.6 square kilometers of territory. In total, more than 400 square kilometers have been liberated since the beginning of the operation.

Commander of the First Separate Assault Brigade Dmytro “Perun” Filatov noted in an interview that currently Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region is “almost under occupation,” but this is part of the overall strategic plan of the Ukrainian command.
