Hottest Frontline Areas
According to the General Staff’s data, the highest activity of the occupiers is observed in several areas. In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, there have been ten clashes, four of which are still ongoing. The Southern Slobozhansky direction also remains tense: in the areas of Vovchansk, Kolodiazne, Starytsia, and Prylipka, Russian troops have conducted eight attacks.
In the Kupiansk direction, two enemy attempts to improve their tactical position near Novoplatonivka are being recorded, while in the Lyman direction, one of four clashes continues. The situation remains particularly tense in the Kostiantynivka direction, where the enemy has conducted twelve attacks near the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Stepaniivka, Ivanopillia, and Sofiivka.
Pokrovsk and Other Directions: Progress of Hostilities
“In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have attempted twelve times to push our troops from their positions in the areas of the settlements of Bilytske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Novooleksandrivka, Udachne, Hryshyne, Filya, and Novoserhiivka. One clash is still ongoing,” the report states.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian forces have attempted to advance three times in the areas of Kalynivske and Verbove. The Huliaipole direction has also been under pressure: here, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 attacks near Dobropillia, Varvarivka, Huliaipole, Staroukrainka, Charivne, and Zaliznychne. In the Dnipro direction, the Russian army made three unsuccessful attempts to storm towards the Antonivskyi Bridge.
According to the General Staff, the situation remains stable in other areas of the front, with no attempts at advancement by the Russian army recorded.
At the beginning of April, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the current situation on the front for Ukraine is the most favorable in the last ten months. He referred to data from Ukrainian and British intelligence and noted that the large-scale offensive of Russian troops planned for March was thwarted due to the actions of Ukrainian defenders.
According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian counterattacks in the Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka directions continue to complicate the efforts of the Russian Federation to advance in the Pokrovsk direction and hinder their spring-summer offensive plans.
It is worth noting that the offensive of Russian troops on the city of Pokrovsk, which had a population of about 60,000 before the full-scale war, began in February 2024 after the occupiers captured Avdiivka, located 39 kilometers southeast of Pokrovsk.
