The enterprise “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” announced the suspension of part of its mining and steelmaking capacities due to disruptions in transportation services provided by “Ukrzaliznytsia”.

Main Reasons for Production Halt
The company noted that the problems arose from inadequate planning and distribution of transportation by the state carrier. In particular, “Ukrzaliznytsia” is not supplying the key components for pig iron production, without which it is impossible to produce pig iron. Additionally, there is no possibility to unload the produced concentrate, as the necessary wagons are not provided.
Scale of the Halt and Further Risks
As a result of the difficulties encountered, the enterprise was forced to stop one of its two blast furnaces, two agglomeration machines, the ore beneficiation plant, and the operations of the mining department. The company emphasizes that if supplies are not restored in the near future, the operation of the second blast furnace, the remaining agglomeration machines, and another ore beneficiation plant will be at risk.
“We must state that the situation is a consequence of… inadequate planning and distribution of transportation by “Ukrzaliznytsia,” the statement reads.
“ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” expresses hope for an immediate response and effective actions from “Ukrzaliznytsia” to stabilize logistics processes and restore predictability in supplies.
