According to a survey conducted by the OLX marketplace, which involved 8,808 Ukrainians, interest in purchasing residential real estate in Ukraine in 2026 has significantly increased. Among the respondents, 23% expressed their intention to buy housing within the current year, while another 31% plan to do so within the next five years. In comparison, in January 2025, only 12% of citizens had such plans, indicating a substantial rise in demand. At the same time, 46% of those surveyed are currently not considering the possibility of purchasing real estate.

Motivation and Sources of Financing
The primary reason for wanting to purchase housing is the improvement of living conditions, as indicated by 43% of those planning to buy. Additionally, 32% of respondents stated that they are willing to utilize credit programs to finance their purchase. Another 19% of survey participants view real estate as an investment or savings tool, while 5% see it as an opportunity to develop their own business.

Popular Regions and Selection Factors
Among those who have decided on the type of property, the absolute majority — 93% — plan to purchase housing: apartments or houses. Land as a purchase option is considered by 4% of participants, while commercial real estate is considered by 2%. The most attractive regions for purchasing housing in 2026 are Kyiv region (35%), Lviv (14%), Odesa (10%), Ivano-Frankivsk (9%), and Dnipropetrovsk (9%).
The key criterion for more than half of potential buyers — 51% of respondents — is the stability of their own income and positive economic forecasts. This factor determines Ukrainians’ readiness to invest in real estate and make financial decisions regarding property purchases.
